PAKISTAN is considered to be the hub of producing high quality Leather and Leather Products.

Over the years this industry has achieved such a remarkable position in the economic development of the country that it now ranks the second biggest export-oriented industry of the country. This industry has always been positioned on its commodity status in its quality both the home and abroad.

There are about 800 tanneries in the country, which are actively engaged in the production of high-quality finished leather from the hides of cows, buffaloes, sheep and goats.

The leather industry of Pakistan consists of the following sectors: leather tanning, leather goods, leather gloves, leather clothing and footwear. Recently, the country is among the leading countries in the production of leather clothing and gloves.

Industry experts believe that Pakistan is one of the leading countries in the field of leather technology, and the quality of Pakistani leather is in second place after Italy.

In Pakistan, leather production is the second largest export sector after the textile industry. It contributes 5% of GDP and 5.4% to the overall export earnings of the country.

In 2018, total exports of leather and leather goods from Pakistan amounted to almost 980 million dollars.
